ASIP and the National Library to establish a specialized entity for protecting the rights of innovators

AMMAN – September 4, 2016 Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) presented a working paper entitled “Cooperation between ASIP and the National Library to establish a specialized entity in protecting the rights of innovators, and in guaranteeing their rights” at the workshop organized by the National Library.

The workshop was attended by a host of judges from various Arab countries, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) representative, in addition to officials from the Library and ASIP representatives. 

Local and international lecturers submitted a number of specialized working papers on the basic concepts of copyright, Jordanian Copyright Law, Copyright and Neighboring Rights in the Digital Environment.

They also discussed the responsibility of Internet service providers concerning content-related services, including permissions and prohibitions, balance between protection and public interest, the role of the National Library and prospects of establishing a collective management organization for copyrights in Jordan.
