Chairman's Message

Dear ASIP Members,

The Society came a long way since its establishment towards fulfilling the purposes and objectives for which it was created, thereby enhancing its status as a pioneering organization in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the Arab world. The Society's role and efforts have contributed to the efficiency of those working in Intellectual Property (IP) sectors throughout the Arab world and promoting awareness in this vital and significant field.

As part of the Society's commitment to enhancing IP awareness, particularly among university students, several rounds of the Moot Court Competition were convened in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan. The Society is working towards expanding the competition to the entire region. Another point worth mentioning here is the cooperation ties between the Society and the IP Unit of the League of Arab States in numerous aspects, such as applicable training and media collaboration.

Now, three years after the launch of the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) program, which has proven to be a success, the Society – through cooperating with a number of organizations – is getting ready to launch a set of intensive courses from the ACIPP program at the regional level to enhance the foundations of collaboration between the Society and these organizations.

The Society is also preparing to sign a number of memorandums of understanding with companies and local and regional organizations to hold specialized courses related to the ACIPP program. These entities include government ministries and customs directorates, in addition to universities and major law firms. The Society also seeks to convene short-term courses in Arab countries.

The Society's achievements over the years have been directed in a manner that further propels advancement in its noble mission that seeks to encourage Arab creativity and enhance economic, social and cultural growth related to the global economy. The Society will continue to work towards completing its future goals and developing its mission in the coming years.

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
